Why Did God ask Prophet Hosea to marry a prostitute in the Bible – Mike Bamiloye Teachings

Popular Gospel Actor and Evangelist, Mike Bamiloye in a recent post on his official Facebook page sends an important message to Prophets. He titled it “Illogical Command.”

He said that God’s instructions and commandments are dispersed throughout the Bible in ways that are perplexing, mind-boggling, and even downright absurd. He then read the book of Hosea 1:2 which says, “The beginning of the word of the Lord by Hosea. And the Lord said to Hosea, Go, take unto thee a wife of whoredoms and children of whoredoms: for the land hath committed great whoredom, departing from the Lord.” However, why will God ask Prophet Hosea to marry a prostitute.

He said,

“I was amazed of this instructions that came from God to Prophet Hosea: “Go and take a Prostitute to yourself and marry her” in order for the Lord to speak to the children of Israel that they had committed harlotry against Him, by departing from Him. then, the Harlot wife conceived and gave birth to her first child, the Lord said the child should be called Jezreel, because He wanted to tell Israel that He would punish the house of Jehu and put an end to the kingdom of the house of Israel.”

When the harlot wife conceived again and gave birth to a girl, the Lord said her name would be Lo-ruhamma because He wanted to tell Israel that He would no longer have mercy upon them. The third child was a boy and God gave him the name: Lo-ammin. “And the Lord said, Call his name Lo-Ammi [Not-my-people], for you are not My people and I am not your God. Hosea 1:9.

He then said,

“The great lesson I learnt from this story of Hosea, is that, God was able to continue to speak through Prophet Hosea as long as he continued to obey the Lord’s instructions. Hosea would never have attempted to marry a promiscuous woman and Ezekiel would never have attempted to eat a bread baked with human dung, if not their commitment to obey everything the Lord said. And that was why they continued in their ministry and calling.

Gomer (go’-mer) was the wife of the prophet Hosea (8th century BC), mentioned in the Hebrew Bible’s Book of Hosea (1:3). Hosea 1:2 refers to her alternatively as a “promiscuous woman” (NIV), a “harlot” (NASB), and a “whore” (KJV) but Hosea is told to marry her according to Divine appointment.
