Why Pastor Nkechi Iloputaife Didn’t Remarry

The Bible is a peerless repository of snippets of wisdom and insights into the machinations of the human heart and society in general. In one of its books, it details the life of a virtuous woman: she is worth more than precious gems! Her husband can trust her, and she will richly satisfy his needs. She will not hinder him but help him all her life…She is energetic, a hard worker, and watches for bargains. She works far into the night! She is a woman of strength and dignity and has no fear of old age. When she speaks, her words are wise, and kindness is the rule for everything she says. She watches carefully all that goes on throughout her household and is never lazy. By and large, Nkechi Iloputaife is a virtuous woman.

It has been over three decades now that Nigerian charismatic leader, pastor and televangelist Nkechi Iloputaife co-founded the Victory Christian Church with her late husband, Bishop Harford Anayo Iloputaife. In all that time, Mrs. Iloputaife has shown herself to be a resilient, resourceful and hopeful soul, especially after the demise of her husband. He it was who was sent out of this world by wicked assassins, a wahalasome case that remains unsolved until this day. Back in the day, Mrs. Iloputaife was regularly quoted as tying the government to her husband’s death, but that fire burnt out long ago. Today, the woman has recovered her peace, knowing that her late hubby is in her Maker’s bosom, untouched by age, and cheering her on.

And why won’t he cheer her on? Mrs. Iloputaife has exceeded every conceivable limit set against her. As a woman in ministry, she has led men, women and children to the fortress of peace and love, growing the church from a trickle of worshippers to the rampaging crowds it accommodates today. There’s the issue of remarriage, of course. However, Mrs. Iloputaife has made it clear that that is not her course. She would rather stay single, focused on hers and her husband’s dream, and take Victory Christian Church to even greater heights.

In other news, however, rumours have been making the rounds that there is indeed someone to whom she might be considering remarriage. After all, a heart that burns for God can indeed burn for the men God created. The rumour is therefore not entirely dismissable. Whatever the case, Mrs. Nkechi Iloputaife has braved the high seas and continues to win like a waving flag, strong, bearing the dreams and hopes of her late husband, and possibly holding out candles for a new sparkle, a new love story, amidst her passion for her God.
