Bishop David Oyedepo Is The Apostle of Faith As Far As Nigeria Is Concerned – Rev. Sam Aboyeji
Rev. Sam Aboyeji, General Overseer Foursquare Gospel Church welcomes Bishop David Oyedepo to the 66th Annual Convention of Foursquare Gospel Church.
“Today is a special day. I have the singular honour and privilege to introduce to us my father,” he said. According to him, he met him 42 years ago in 1979 and since then he has remained a true father until now. By the grace of God some of the traits you see in him, he picked them from him (Bishop). As far as this country is concerned, Bishop Oyedepo is the Apostle of Faith.
He further revealed that when they were still on campus and he was their leader, they were to buy a bus for evangelism. They wrote letters all over the world but no dime came. One night he gathered all of them, Joint Christian Campus Fellowship in Ilorin, and said “we will buy two buses for you, students”. They had a night vigil and at the end of that night vigil, people brought meal tickets that they took to SUG Building to sell, and before the end of that night vigil some people were sent to bring a brand new Coaster Bus to meet them at the night vigil.
“Whatever we see today, as a manifestation of faith. It didn’t start just today, it has always been there,” he said. He said that Bishop is the only one he knows in Nigeria who has promoted two private universities and the two of them are doing very well; Covenant University and Landmark University. He is the Chancellor to both of them.
Speaking further, he explained that Bishop was given the Liberation Mandate in 1981 after an eighteen hours vision. He has the mandate to preach the word of faith to set humanity free. When you hear of initiatives, he said that Bishop Oyedepo is the grandfather of initiatives. One of the initiatives the Lord used him to embark on to evangelize Africa is what they call AGIP – Africa Gospel Invasion Programme. “We thank God that there is a current covenant project ongoing, the Ark Project,” he said.
He then thanked God for the life of God’s servant. Attributes like courage, faith, boldness, hard work, passion for God, and passion for the world are things that you can pick not just from what he preaches but from his life. His interest in their mission has been very consistent even before he became the G.O. ‘When Daddy Meduoye went to introduce me to him, the first question he asked was ” How is McPherson University doing?” he said.
