The dynasty of Eli the priest in the bible was to be priests forever, but because Eli was a weak and permissive parent, he brought a curse upon his generation, and they lost the priesthood.
Eli spared the rod of discipline and spoiled children Hophni and Phineas, who were to take over from him. The sons desecrated the temple, cheated people, took what belonged to God and God punished Eli for it because he was a bad parent.
Dr. Olukoya spoke more on this topic and said that all children belong to God and parents are stewards. When a parent does the right thing, he gets a reward, when things for wrong, they could get punished.
The cleric spoke that the moral decadence experienced in society today could be traced to bad parenting. He said bad parenting is the reason many youths are becoming slay queens, slay kings, drug addicts, and sexual perverts.
He advised parents to get more involved in good parenting so that they can salvage the younger generation instead of letting them get involved in frivolities.
