For the eighth year in a row, Chick-fil-A has been crowned the nation’s most popular restaurant chain
Fast food chains are dominated by an evangelical Christian-owned chicken company, according to a new study.
Chick-fil-A has a long history of raising the bar for the fast food sector.
The American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI) Restaurant Study 2021-2022 has rated Chick-fil-A America’s top fast-food restaurant for the eighth year in a row.
“Chick-fil-stronghold A’s on the fast food market,” according to the study “about 20,000 randomly selected customers were polled between April 2021 and March 2022 to gauge their level of satisfaction with the brand.
Chick-fil-A maintained its lead over the competition with an ACSI score of 83, which ranges from 0 to 100.
McDonald’s, on the other hand, had its score slip from 68 to 68, keeping it in last position.
KFC (down 1 percent), Domino’s (down 3 percent), and other smaller fast-food establishments all tied Jimmy John’s for second place.
Five Guys, Papa John’s and Arby’s all dropped a notch to 76, while Chipotle, Panera Bread (down 1%), Pizza Hut, and Starbucks all stayed the same.
Burger King, Little Caesars, Panda Express, and Dairy Queen were all in the 75s; Dunkin’ Donuts, Sonic, and Wendy’s were all in the 74s; and Wendy’s was in the 73s.
Taco Bell and Jack in the Box tied at 72, with Popeyes falling 3% to leave McDonald’s as the worst-performing restaurant.
Longhorn Steakhouse and Texas Roadhouse were beaten by Cracker Barrel and TGI Fridays as well as Chick-fil-A when it came to sit-down eateries.
Forrest Morgeson, Director of Research Emeritus at ACSI, says that following the epidemic, most restaurants were compelled to rely more on touchless technology, including enhancing their mobile app quality, which not all were able to achieve.
According to Morgeson: “With fewer resources, smaller chains and independent eateries are offering apps that aren’t meeting the needs of their customers.” As a result, a number of prominent chains have seen significant improvements in both the quality and reliability of their mobile apps.
Chick-fil-A has drawn fire for its leadership’s religious opposition to same-sex marriage and affiliations to conservative Christian groups since it is owned by a devoted Baptist family and is closed on Sundays.
On a number of occasions, local governments or colleges have chosen to prohibit the chicken sandwich chain because of their conservative viewpoints.
Chick-fil-A has been widely criticized since its president, Dan Cathy, stated in 2012 that he opposes same-sex marriage.
A public statement declaring that the corporation “remains devoted to Christian values” was also made public in 2019 “the charity arm of the fast food restaurant chose to stop supporting three organizations that have been accused of maintaining orthodox Christian views on sexuality.
Chick-fil-A founder S. Truett Cathy’s daughter, Trudy Cathy White, recently told The Christian Post that the family saw itself as being in the “people business” rather than merely the “chicken business.
To quote her, “We do appreciate the fact that we feel like God is blessing our business,” she told CP. “I’m not sure if there is a trick to it. When my father started this company, he used biblical ideas as a guide. He was of the opinion that the biblical concepts he used to guide his economic decisions were inextricably linked. That’s not a mystery. We’ve been able to apply a lot of what we’ve learned from God’s Word in our business.”
Chick-fil-A has “gained true clarity of our goal of why we’re in business,” she said, adding, “Above anything.” “That was extremely significant to both of us. We realized in the early 1980s that we lacked a distinct sense of purpose when we started our company. As a result, we’ve refocused our efforts on being good stewards of the resources entrusted to us and on making a positive impact on the lives of those who come into contact with Chick-fil-A. Although we enjoy selling chicken, our primary focus is on serving others.”
