Pastor E.A Adeboye and other Nigerian Pastors who have supported Covid-19 vaccination in the country

As the controversy continue about the Corona Virus vaccine in Nigeria. Some Pastors have directly or indirectly supported the Federal Government on getting vaccinated and some encouraged their members to take it if they want to. Though, we still have other pastors who have criticized the vaccine in Nigeria. Some of the Nigeria Pastors who have openly criticized it are; Pastor Chris Oyakhilome of Christ Embassy, Bishop David Oyedepo of Living Faith Church International, Pastor Paul Enenche of Dunamis International Gospel Center and Apostle Johnson Suleman of Omega Fire Ministries.

According to reports from Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC), Nigeria has recorded over 200,000 of Covid-19 cases since the outbreak last year with more than 2,000 reported death cases.

Since the introduction of the vaccine, about five million Nigerians have reportedly received the first shots of the virus vaccine.

Some popular Nigerian Pastors have in different occasions encouraged their members to take the vaccine if they wish to. In this post, we will look at four notable Nigerian Pastors who have reportedly said they will take the vaccine:

1. General Overseer, Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye:

Pastor Adeboye is one of the Nigerian Pastors who have spoken on taken Covid-19 vaccine. According to Punch Newspaper, the Redeemed Christian Church of God General Overseer told his members that he will not force them to get vaccinated but if they think getting it will give them peace of mind, they should go ahead and take it.

He, however said “If there are nations in the world that say that I cannot come to preach the gospel there because of vaccination, I will do anything for Jesus Christ.”

2. Kingsway International Christian Centre, Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo:

The founder of Kingsway International Christian Centre, KICC, is another Pastor who have encouraged his members to get vaccinated. According to The Guardian Newspaper, the Clergyman had also gotten vaccinated after encouraging his members.

3. General Overseer of The Redeemed Evangelical Mission, Dr. Mike Okonkwo:

According to PUNCH Newspaper, Pastor (Dr.) Mike Okonkwo is one of the pastors who have supported Covid-19 vaccine but it’s not known if he has been vaccinated.

4. Senior Pastor of Trinity House, Ituah Ighodalo:

Pastor Ituah Ighodalo is one of the Pastors who have openly supported Covid-19 vaccine.

According to information published by Sahara Reporters, the senior Pastor of Trinity Church, Ituah Ighodalo, was quoted to have said that “it is foolish to reject the COVID-19 vaccine.”
