Research Finds that 92% of Bible Readers Say the Bible “Has Transformed My Life”

A Survey Finds That 92% of Bible Readers Say the Bible Has Changed Their Lives

New study by the American Bible Society found that the message of Scripture has changed the lives of over 90% of Americans who read it, and that it has a positive influence on many more who don’t read it at all.

Ninety-two percent of Bible readers (those who read the Bible at least three or four times a year outside of religious settings) agree with the statement “the message of the Bible has affected my life,” according to a research published on Thursday.

An American Bible Society study concluded, “Ultimately, Bible Use isn’t merely about opening a book or an app.” Interacting with God is at the heart of everything. As a result of their encounter with God in the Bible, individuals undergo a metamorphosis in their outlooks, priorities, and lifestyles.

Surprisingly, 38% of those who don’t regularly read the Bible also believe that its “message has improved my life.” The American Bible Society estimates that among the 230 million individuals in the United States, 38% admit they don’t read the Bible despite its influence.

The research suggests that “some of these folks visit church sometimes and possibly get the transformative message there.” Others may have been influenced by the Bible in the past, but they no longer make time for personal Bible study. Perhaps there are some people whose friends or relatives are trying to teach them the Bible.

It’s amazing that many people who aren’t reading the Bible regularly claim to have been changed by it, the research notes.
