Ten Differences Between The Celestial Church And Cherubim And Seraphim.

There at times that The Celestial Church of Christ also known as Cele is often mistaken for Cherubim and Seraphim by some people who don’t take keen interest to study these two churches and know them well. There are well and meaningful Differences between these two churches which if care is not taken, you might not know them.

In as much as these churches, The Celestial Church Of Christ (CCC), Also Known as Cele, is often mistaken by people to be/or Cherubim and Seraphim which sometimes also know as C &am,S, there are much differences between the two domination. There have the same attires and other similarities but they have differences and doctrinal policies that differs in many ways.

Frankly, there are many people who do not know that these are two different churches in Nigeria or all over the world. They assume that since these churches wear the same garment and often times do not wear shoes, it makes them same but no, they are not. The fact that they are both white garment churches is probably the biggest reason why people tend to see them as the same which is not totally the same. 

While we can understand from different angle but in a few notes, it does not change the fact that these two churches are unique in their own rights and ways of worship and their doctrines are different. They have practices, and doctrines that separate one from the other when it comes to worshipping, praises, marriage and baptism and taking the holy Communion.

Here are some of Differences between these churches and some of their similarities based on experience and some witty research:

1. Moses Orimolade Is the founder of Cherubim and Seraphim which is also know as C&S and it was established in September 9, 1925. The church is acknowledged to start as the Aladura Band (Prayer Band). It later was joined by Abiodun Akinsowon and some other people and has lots of divisions which includes:

Cherubim and Seraphim Society in 1929, Then, the Sacred Order of Cherubim and Seraphim was formed by the western group after several failed attempts to unite Abiodun with Moses, emergence of Praying Band of Eternal Sacred Order of Cherubim and Seraphim under the leadership of Ezekiel Davies.The Holy Order of Cherubim and Seraphim movement was next. Later, the Aladura band, was renamed Eternal Sacred Order of Cherubim and Seraphim with Moses Orimolade as the founder and Supreme Head (Baba Aladura). Moses’ death in 1933 resulted in more divisions in the Church. But in all these, Cele, founded on the 29th of September 1947 in Porto Novo, Republic of Benin is still united. It has managed to grow with many Parishes, Dioceses all over the world. It’s International Headquarters is in Nigeria. The founder, Samuel Bilehou Joseph Oshoffa, lived from 1909 to 1985.

2. The Cherubim and Seraphim has Divisions, While Cele has managed to stay as One body.

3: They have different shoes Policies in their Doctrines. These shoes Doctrines differ in many ways. While a Cherubim and Seraphim members can wear shoes outside the church (mind you not inside the church) but Celestial Church of Christ, The case is quiet different. You can not wear a shoe while you wear your garment. It is forbidden by the church doctrines.

4: There are different in church logos, mode of worship, type of songs, hierarchy in the churches. And different in the ways in which they celebrate ceremonies in the church. Even in baptism of the holy spirit is different in the churches.

5: Cherubim and Seraphim mostly is know for the use of Yoruba languages in the south west of Nigeria and the language of their place of juridiction. They speak yoruba mostly in their worship just like the Catholic Church is known for using Latins in preaching or doing most of the things they do while Celestial Churches use English across the country. Cherubim and Seraphim and Celestial Church Of Christ use of languages is different from each other.

6: Another thing about these two churches is that they use different colour of candle for different things. While C&S use different colours of candle for Important, special kind of prayers but Celestial Church Of Christ depends or uses to white Candles for their prayers.

7: Reportedly, Celestial Church Of Christ has seen the use of other kind of candles different from white as cultic in nature while it is not so with Cherubim and Seraphim churches. They tend to make use of these different kind of candles for different kind of prayers for different kind of problems. And these in many ways have made them a different body from the former.

8: Both are known for Wearing white Garment for their worship. They wear white garment for church almost everybody in the church have to wear white garment. And inside the church, you must not wear Shoes.

9: Interestingly, these churches have both similar, yet different chants of praise. The Cherubim & Seraphim says Hallelujah in their worship, followed methodically by Iye seven times. Cele says Hallelujah, Hosanna, Ebenezer to the four corners of the earth, North, South, East and West. In total, Cele members say it 28 times.

10: They Both Believe in Christ. They worship the living God above all.
