Pastor Kumuyi in one of his sub-topics while preaching, spoke about The Unwise Disposition Of Self-Subjection To Storms and read the book of Jonah 1:3-4 which says, “But Jonah ran away from the Lord and headed for Tarshish.
He went down to Joppa, where he found a ship bound for that port. After paying the fare, he went aboard and sailed for Tarshish to flee from the Lord. Then the Lord sent a great wind on the sea, and such a violent storm arose that the ship threatened to break up.”
He then said that Jonah brought the storm upon himself, God told him where to go, but he went in the wrong direction, his will was opposed to the will of God. His walk was contrary to the way of God. His leaning and disposition were not aligned to that of God, so he brought punishment and storm upon himself.
This is what many do today. God tells them what to do, they do something different. This brings storm because the way of transgressors is hard. So one thing that Christians do which brings storms and punishment upon them is that their will opposes the will of God.
However, Jonah brought the storm, not only to himself but to those who harboured him in their ship. A runaway backslider who brings problems into your life because he has money and connection.
He said that the Pastor’s daughter who has gone away from the way of God, who might not be using jewellery or have holes punched into her ears but talks, acts, and does things like the world. She had forsaken the way of life her parents put her feet. She comes flaunting herself before you and you allow her. You allow sinning Jonah and Josephine into your life.
