Pastor Adeboye gives an explanation to his congregation as to why a man who claimed to have returned to God could not pass their simple test.
Pastor E. A. Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), spoke to the world during the RCCG’s live-streamed Sunday worship service on Going Higher Part 70.
As he put it during the conversation, “I’ve told you previously about a time when we were preaching and a young man came up to us and said, “Thank you very much, sir, now I have surrendered my life to Christ.” Then, instantly, I was compelled by the Holy Spirit to interrogate him on a matter. I congratulated him and asked if his automobile could be made accessible the following day because we had plans to go somewhere.
You can’t use the car tomorrow since I have to work, he said. I gave him a reassuring grin and told him, “My son, we are not going anywhere tomorrow, we do not need your car, we just want to know whether you have surrendered your life to Christ.” But since you haven’t given your entire life over to God, you failed the test.
After that, he asks his group members these questions “I really want those of you who are listening to me right now to think about this. To what extent have you given up? When you say you’ve given up, what do you really mean?
