After Converting Muslims To Christ, Evangelists In Uganda Were Assaulted With Knives

Evangelists in Uganda were assaulted with knives after successfully converting Muslims to Christianity.

Kenya’s Nairobi (Nairobi) — People say that two missionaries were attacked and stabbed in eastern Uganda after they converted a number of Muslims.

Wilberforce Mutenga, a father of two, and Robert Okia, a 43-year-old father of six, shared the gospel with people in the mostly Muslim hamlet of Busakira in eastern Uganda earlier this month. Mutenga said that eight of the people who heard the gospel said they trusted in Christ.

He said that they went back to helping people in Ikule village, Mayuge District, after being attacked there on October 7.

According to Mutenga, 38, of Morning Star News, “We were assaulted because we were preaching the gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to the completely Muslim people of Ikule village.” We didn’t know that the Muslims in this area knew about the success of our mission in the village of Busakira.

He said that following their visits to two houses in Ikule, Muslims encircled them and started asking them questions about Islam that they were unable to respond to.

The moment someone uttered the Islamic rallying cry “Allah Akbar” (God is greater) three times, everyone grabbed sticks and started brutally hitting us, the man said.

According to a local source, when one of the attackers knocked Mutenga to the ground, he got a knife cut to his head, bruises on his legs, and dislocated his right knee. He was being treated at a private hospital in Kampala at the time of writing.

According to the source, Okia suffered a knife cut to his knee, rib and hand injuries, facial and mouth edema, and generalized body discomfort. Okia was sent to Jinja hospital for more specialized care.

As reported by Mutenga to Morning Star News, “After beating us, they carried and flung us near the marsh between Busakira and Kigandaalo, where a herdsman noticed both of us wounded and pleading for assistance.” The guy hurriedly called the police, who then drove us to a nearby clinic for treatment.

When the two leave the hospital for treatment, they want to file a police case. The two were able to identify some of the attackers and told the police about what happened.

Mutenga said, “We need your prayers all the time” because we have to keep spreading the word after we get better, even though we have been persecuted.

A church in Mayuge Town Council, which cannot be named for security reasons, dispatched the evangelists to spread the gospel.
