MFM WOMEN BASKETBALL CLUB TO REPRESENT NIGERIA IN AFRICA

I remember like it was yesterday when Pastor Shade Olukoya, the wife of Pastor DK Olukoya, the General Overseer of Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries, told me, “Brother Godwin, don’t forget our ladies, o! You only plan football games for men, but we can play just as well…”
When I got home, I thought about starting women’s football in MFM, but something inside me told me to think about something else.

I asked myself, “What could that be?”
Then came Odunayo Adekuoruoye, who won the Commonwealth Wrestling Championship and is now the second best wrestler in the world in her category. Everyone knows about her.
When I was sleeping, I had a dream about basketball, which is an indoor sport. Perfect. That was the end.
Last year, my dream came true when the best male and female coach in Nigeria, coach Aderemi Adewunmi, agreed to help me set up a women’s basketball club for MFM. And the MFM Women’s Basketball Club was in the semi-finals of Nigeria’s Women’s Premier League in less than three weeks.
Owolo, as we call him, kept telling me that he was putting together a team that would win every game in 2019.

The race began in Akure and went to Ibadan, Ilorin, and then Lagos, where the last 8 runners were. And just yesterday at the indoor sports hall of the national stadium in Surulere, Lagos, MFM Women Basketball club made it to the final of the women’s league after a hard-fought win over Dolphins, the same team that beat them in the third place game last season.
The best part of the story is that one of the teams representing Nigeria on the continent will be the MFM Women’s Basketball Club from Lagos. Wow!!!! Isn’t it true that dreams can come true?
Join me in thanking God for how he has used Dr. Daniel Olukoya in his work to reposition young people, which has been very successful.
