Pastor Jamal Bryant slams Herschel Walker even though the former football star has a slim lead in the Georgia Senate race.

A recent poll, released just hours after Pastor Jamal Bryant, one of the state’s most influential black megachurch pastors, criticized the former football star as the “lowest caricature of a stereotypical, broken black man” from his pulpit Sunday, showed that Republican Senate nominee for Georgia Herschel Walker had a slight lead over incumbent Democratic Sen. Raphael Warnock.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution and the University of Georgia conducted a poll between October 16 and October 27. It includes replies from 1,022 Georgians who were chosen at random and are registered to vote in the midterm elections on November 8. With a current margin of error of 3.1%, Walker leads Warnock by 46% to 45%. As of Monday, more than 1.5 million Georgians had cast ballots, breaking the previous state early voting record, according to WSB-TV 2.

On January 5, 2021, Warnock was elected as Georgia’s first black senator after narrowly defeating then-Republican Sen. Kelly Loeffler in a runoff election. He also continues to serve as the pastor of Atlanta’s historic Ebenezer Baptist Church, where the Rev. Martin Luther King Sr. and the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. both served as pastors.

Bryant stated that Warnock, a seasoned civil rights campaigner, is a superior option in his criticism of Walker.

In his sermon at Lithonia’s New Birth Missionary Baptist Church, Bryant said, “Ladies and gentlemen, when the Republican Party of Georgia relocated Herschel Walker from Texas to Georgia so he could compete for Senate, it’s because the change was taking place too quickly in the post-Antebellum South.

Since the state had turned blue, some districts were unprepared for a black man and a Jewish man to run for the Senate at the same time. They reasoned that they could fool us if they chose someone who would better represent us with a football than a degree in philosophy.

They believed that we were slow and foolish and that we would vote for the stereotyped, broken black guy rather than an intelligent, erudite, and dedicated candidate.

“White guys have been instructing Herschel Walker what to do since he was 16 years old. They have told him what school to attend, where to live, where to pay for abortions, and where to buy a gun, and you think they are not going to tell him how to vote?

“We don’t need a Walker in 2022; we need a runner,” said Bryant. Someone must run and speak the truth about January 6. Georgia, I need you to know that the slave Negroes you’re used to seeing don’t any longer reside here.We are capable of acting, thinking, and voting for ourselves. Why? since we don’t require a walker.

A request for comment from The Christian Post on Tuesday did not receive a prompt response from Walker’s team. Walker has been accused of pressuring two of his ex-girlfriends to have abortions in recent weeks, but he has refuted the accusations.

According to the poll results, almost half of all Georgia voters believe Warnock to be more trustworthy and honest than Walker, who is only viewed favorably by 37% of voters.

Walker would receive Peter Strangis’ 41-year-old independent vote, despite the fact that he didn’t trust any of the candidates, Strangis told The New York Times.

“I don’t know whether Herschel has ever read a book before, and Raphael Warnock doesn’t have any of his own original opinions—II don’t know what to say,” said Strangis, a salesperson. “Herschel is a former collegiate football player.” “Choosing between broccoli and cauliflower while voting for them is like that.”

Walker was accused earlier this year of forcing a former girlfriend to have an abortion in 2009, a charge he has rejected despite receiving support from the pro-life grassroots group Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America.

In a Twitter conversation in response to Bryant’s remarks, conservative writer Samuel Sey said that Walker might be a better choice than Warnock.

Walker is not a good man, however, so that is not why. He’s not. Simply put, he’s not as awful as Warnock. “Warnock would be surpassed by almost anyone,” Sey wrote. “An absentee father named Hershel Walker reportedly bribed mothers to abort his children. However, Jamal Bryant avoided talking about them. He pathetically implied that Walker is an Uncle Tom instead. Why? “Why didn’t he confront Hershel Walker about the underlying issues?”

“I believe it’s because if he addressed Hershel Walker’s actual problems and scandals, he would have to talk about the two major difficulties black Americans are currently facing: fatherlessness and abortion,” said Bryant.

Republican Sen. Johnny Isakson’s remaining term will be filled by Warnock, who won a special election to do so. Warnock has faced accusations of his own that have resulted in attack commercials.

In a court petition this year, Warnock’s ex-wife Oulèye Ndoye claimed that he had “failed and refused to reimburse” her for “childcare bills for the children” that had arisen while he had custody of their kids.

According to the filing, Warnock “failed and refused to exercise his parenting time as previously agreed to and ordered,” and when he does have custody of his kids, “he often solicits the assistance of caretakers and friends, thereby delegating his time to other individuals, rather than adhering to the “Right of First Refusal” signed in the original parenting plan.”

A March 2020 incident involving Warnock and Ndoye that took place while their divorce was still pending has come to light during this election cycle. His ex-wife reported to the police that he hit her foot with his automobile. The police were not given any proof that Warnock ran over her foot, though.

In January, Warnock, an abortion rights supporter, angered another former NFL player, vocal pro-life Christian Benjamin Watson, by tweeting that he is a Christian who “always believed that a patient’s room is way too small for a woman, her doctor, and the United States government,” according to a pro-choice pastor.

Watson tweeted, “A pastor understands the value of human life.” A senator is capable of assisting both the mother and the child. Sir, you are wiser. Stop being frightened.
