What Nigerians Must Do To Save The Nation – Rev. William Okoye

Rev. William Okoye, the founder of All Christians Fellowship Mission has admonished Christians to work hard individually and corporately to strengthen the bond of unity for the nation’s growth.

Okoye in an independence message on Friday in Abuja said anyone desiring peace in any given environment must promote unity, justice, and fairness.

“Unity happens to be one of the greatest needs of our nation today.”

He urged Christians to shun sin, saying “it is a reproach to God’s goodwill”.

He took his reading from Proverbs 14: 34, which says “Godliness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any nation.”

The cleric said that Nigerians needed to desist from the lack of sacrificial love toward one another and their distorted sense of value.

“Selfishness and greed are the causes of all the misery and heartaches we are experiencing today in our homes and nation.

“61years after, Nigeria is still being referred to in terms of potential because of our great endowment in human and material resources that are yet to be harnessed into measurable development indices.

” Only God and through fervent prayers, we can achieve a turnaround,” he said.

Okoye thanked God as Nigeria celebrates its 61st independence anniversary amidst the global and local challenges of the time.

“God in His mercy has truly blessed our nation, and by committing ourselves to live in peace with all people more blessings will be added to us.

“If we otherwise become obstinate and stubbornly commit to doing things that will create problems and conflict all over the country, then we are not showing appreciation to God for all he has done for us as a nation.”

He advised all Christians to pray to God to bless the nation with nationalistic and detribalized leaders with integrity.

“Leaders who will resolutely fight against anything that will encourage injustice and favoritism.”

Okoye said that was the only way righteousness would exalt the nation.
