7 God-Promised Blessings to Hold Onto During Life’s Storms

When the storms of life come, remember these 7 promises from God and live your life based on them.

It was a decade ago. We had a terrible accident. In the United States, Hurricane Katrina made landfall as a Category 4 storm in New Orleans, Louisiana. When it comes to natural disasters, this one ranks as the worst in American history. Damage from this storm was extensive not just in the New Orleans region but also along the shores of Mississippi and Alabama, and across the rest of Louisiana.

To put it simply, we have no memory. Many of us will never forget the tragic scenes, the lives lost, and the devastation left in the wake of the storm that our country endured. Many individuals rushed to the safety of surrounding cities. Being locals, we saw some of the devastation firsthand and were able to help others who had lost everything due to the flooding in Houston, Texas. Convention centers and the Houston Astrodome were packed with people hoping for shelter and assistance. People who had lost everything were temporarily housed in rows of cots that lined the walls of the buildings.

Extreme weather may develop rapidly, turning sunny days into times of concern. It just takes one encounter, a diagnosis, an accident, or anything else that drastically alters your life to change your perspective. We’re left wondering how we could have possibly missed it.

A severe blow to us.

What a letdown.

The occurrence of storms is beyond our control. However, we are aware of the best hiding spots.

1. There will be storms.

If you trust in me, I will be with you while you go over the sea, and I will keep you safe as you make your way through the rivers. If you dare to go through the flames without fear of harm, you will be spared. Scripture Reference: Isaiah 43:2

Not “if,” but “when” is what is said. Things like these are inevitable. As a matter of fact, it can’t be stopped. But even so, God assures us in His Word that He is with us no matter what comes our way. Even yet, Daniel was still up against the lions. Even so, Joseph was placed in jail. Yet again, Job was deprived of his possessions. Persecution of the disciples continued. Being a Christian doesn’t guarantee protection from every kind of difficulty, but it does provide the assurance that God is always there to help us through it.

2. Pay attention to the cautions.

As a result, always alert, for you do not know the day that your Lord will return. Matt. 24:42

Through His Word, God continually urges us to maintain vigilance and pay attention to our immediate environment. Even yet it’s sometimes too simple to dismiss the caution and go on nonetheless. Having the arrogant belief that we are superior or that we would be spared. Sometimes He gives us a route out of what’s to come, and we need His insight to determine whether we should take it.

3. Prepare for anything.

Pay close attention to your steps from now on, not as foolish but as wise, making the most of the time you have since the days are wicked. Consequently, avoid folly and learn the Lord’s will. Paul’s words to the Ephesians in chapter 5 verses 15-17

It’s not uncommon for the course of one’s life to be foreseen. Storms can develop with little to no advance notice. Maintaining a strong connection with God is the greatest approach to ensure spiritual readiness at all times. Make intelligent decisions while you stroll. Every day, we need Him—the infusion of His Spirit, time spent in prayer and study of His Word. When we are well-equipped “on the inside,” we are more able to rely on God no matter what difficulties we face. Be unyielding in dealing with sin so that our relationships with God and each other remain undisturbed. Maintain strong spiritual ties by attending regular worship services and maintaining personal friendships with other Christians.

4. You should be aware of safe havens.

A very present assistance in time of need, God is our shelter and strength. Ps. 46:2

It’s human nature to seek shelter from a storm. There is a safe haven for us no matter how difficult life gets or how full our schedules get. God is a place of refuge, a source of ongoing aid, and a provider of security for his people. He alone can cross the sea without getting wet. He alone maintains his position as master. When He says, “Peace, be quiet,” the storm ceases and the wind stops.

5. The onslaught of the enemy is overwhelming.

The Spirit of the Lord will raise a standard against the adversary “when he comes in like a flood.” Isa. 59:19

The adversary will attempt to make our life difficult. His favorite thing is to see bad things happen. To him, it’s great when we’re having trouble. His whole mission is to burglarize, murder, and demolish. When a few bad things happen, it might seem like the whole world is collapsing. Regulating this situation is challenging. Sometimes we just feel totally alone and abandoned. Nevertheless, the Bible assures us that we are never without help. We can’t expect him to abandon us in our hour of need; he will help us rebuild. No matter how dire our situation, God will battle on our side.

6. The deluge is ended; God has won.

The Lord is enthroned as King eternally; the Lord rules over the flood. We pray that the Lord may strengthen his people. Let the Lord provide peace to his people. Psa. 29:10-11

Such a comforting assurance that God “sits enthroned over the flood,” as the Bible puts it. God is in control of the weather, the floods, and everything else. He is in command, and He will lead us to safety. He gets our main worries. It’s possible that the “flood” we’re experiencing isn’t actual water, but rather the stress of our current situation. Sometimes all the challenges we face might make us feel as if we’re about to collapse under their weight. We might be going through a sea of pain right now.

Try not to think that He is not present for even a second. He will see us through any difficulty, and He will be with us always. In this, we are not alone. Ever. In the middle of the “flood,” God provides two things. God rewards us with “strength” and “peace” and provides “strength” to His people.

7. The cycle of life restarts.

For a symbol of the covenant between myself and the earth, I have placed my rainbow in the skies. Gen. 9:13

Hard times do not have the last word over our life, not even in the face of massive loss and destructive storms. When we put our trust in God, we know that He will protect us both now and forever. Intense winds are possible. Loss of this magnitude is possible. However, God is a Savior. He alone can bring good out of what seems to be total ruin. And he did it for Job. For Joseph’s sake, he did it. As a favor to Noah, he completed this task. Moreover, the God of the Bible is the same God of the present. He has not abandoned His Word or His promises.
